This is for all of you out there who are feeling a little stuck right now. This meditation may help you get unstuck, and stimulate your creativity.

It might be in a relationship. Or at work.

Or maybe you just feel like you’re adrift or treading water and going nowhere.

Sometimes it doesn’t seem like there’s a way forward. And it’s so easy to get stuck in a loop of negative thinking.

But. BUT.

You always have a choice.

Even if you don’t particularly like your options.

Every experience presents you with the fuel to do something different next.

Here’s a meditation I like to do that almost always gets me moving when I feel like I’m standing still.

Simple exercise:
Meditation to get unstuck

Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing until your heart rate steadies and slows.

Briefly review the situation that’s making you feel stuck, like you’re watching a movie.

Now, do the visualization below. Imagine that you can do this perfectly, even if you haven’t done this kind of exercise before.

VISUALIZE:
In your mind’s eye, see a red clay pot of dirt.

Dig a small hole in the dirt, plant a plump white seed.

This seed is the situation you’re dealing with.

Sprinkle it with water. Put it on the windowsill in the sun.

Watch a single green sprout poke up from the dirt. As the sun shines on it, it begins to grow taller, and unfurl.

It continues to grow, getting taller, branching out, possibly flowering.

Notice the color of the stem + leaves.

Are they thick or thin? Long + wispy? Short + stocky?

Are there flowers? Thorns?

Observe your plant.

Water your plant again.

ASK:
What is my best path forward with this situation? And then? Listen.

When you’re done, thank your plant for teaching you something.

Give it another drink of water + leave it on your windowsill as you come back to the present.
